ABI Research, a market-foresight advisory firm providing strategic guidance on the most compelling transformative technologies, announced significant findings in the Telco Digitization, AI & Machine Learning, and M2M, IoT and IoE markets:
Consumer IoT is a $6.6 Billion Opportunity That Telcos Must Shape
While the internet of things (IoT) is primarily associated with the industrial and enterprise markets, there is an opportunity emerging for telcos to spur the growth of a consumer IoT market. “Consumer IoT is a nascent and fragmented market where connectivity is an essential enabler. For these reasons, telcos can play a key role in driving the growth of the consumer IoT market,” said Pablo Tomasi, senior analyst at ABI Research.
Deep Learning-Based Machine Vision Accelerates the Drive Toward the Smart Factory
The emergence of deep learning technologies opens the possibility of expanded capabilities and flexibility, leading to more cost efficiency and higher production yield. “This is in part driven by the democratization of deep learning capabilities. The emergence of various open source Artificial Intelligence (AI) frameworks lower the barrier for the adoption of deep learning-based machine vision,” said Lian Jye Su, a Principal Analyst at ABI Research.
Enterprise Video Surveillance Growing to $12 Billion
As the video surveillance industry continues its transition toward IP camera systems with edge and on-device analytics capabilities, solution providers continue to offer connected products and services with vastly stronger value propositions than traditional, legacy analog systems. “Success within IoT is largely dependent on the ability of providers to create highly specialized, value-added solutions based upon clearly defined use cases supported by market demand,” said Ryan Harbison, Research Analyst at ABI Research.
